I am pleased to have attended this workshop. Paul has clearly great expertise on the subject, and he is also able to convey the content in an efficient and stimulating fashion. The program is excellent, and the teaching offers a great mix of precise theory and valuable hands-on experience. Finally, the quality of the material is outstanding, and multiple additional references are provided. I do not see how it's possible to find a better introduction to the subject.
Joachim Tigler, who knows Bilokon from Deutsche Bank and has been to various Thalesians events, thinks the seminar was very well worth it. Now that artificial intelligence is the new hot thing, he says a lot of events are "superficial", but that the Thalesians are distinct: "There are people here with significant experience and influence who understand the mathematical foundations of machine learning and its practical applications in finance." (Quoted by Sarah Butcher, Global Editor, eFinancial Careers.)
In quantitative finance, the most important edge is to stay updated with the latest research in the field and during the quest I found the Thalesians' seminar series. The organizers hosted several online seminars with top researchers and industry experts, explaining their research on AI/ML in finance to extraordinary topics of computing, biotech and cryptocurrency. The most exciting part for me is that I get to interact with the speakers during Q&A seasons. The seminars helped me find new ideas and resources to aid my research work and in building trading systems.
This workshop was intellectually stimulating. The learnings from the workshop will be useful in my work. I especially liked the length of the material covered and the Python tutorials. Speakers have a good sense of humour, they present the material with entertaining background and historical data.
I really liked the choice of topics. I especially liked the theoretical foundations of machine learning. Speakers have explained the mathematical concepts of ML very well. I would definitely recommend attending the workshop to my colleagues and friends.
The instructors demonstrated breadth of knowledge and expertise and were keeping us engaged for the whole training. For me, the most valuable takeaway was the understanding of the link between maths and data science.
Rotating between theoretical and practical parts, all questions were answered, the pace was excellent—not one bit was boring. Plus the venue and customer service were 5-star. I liked the personal approach and provided explanations to the questions.
I was very glad that I attended the two day course taught by Dr. Paul Bilokon of Thalesians. The course covered essential tools in Data Science and Machine Learning methods, for systematic electronic trading practitioners. Paul demonstrated his expertise on both the theory and the practical implementation of topics such as data capture architecture, multidimensional optimization, and deep learning with neural networks. Other topics that I found extremely useful were the compact yet thorough overview of kdb+/q from basic to intermediate topics, and the overview of the Monte Carlo Tree Search method at the end. The two-day program balanced lectures as well with hands-on exercises. I cannot recommend this course highly enough to practitioners of systematic electronic trading, and even to the wider audience of big data practitioners.
